What to backup using WebDAV?

As in any backup, all important files, like work documents, e-mail messages in Outlook/Outlook Express, images, photos, etc. can be backed up. As WebDAV was designed for colloboration, work documents can be backed up for further team work, provided the right persons have write access.

When a WebDAV needs to be run?

Supposedly the backup set is not so great, daily incremental or differential backup should be sufficient. As many files can be backed up at a time, time spend on backing up to a WebDAV server is reduced to the minimum. If time and bandwidth permit, larger backup sets, containing image or photo collections can be backed up, though backup to an external hard drive is more suitable for such backups.

First of all, a backup schedule needs to be set, preferably. This ensures that the files are backed up whether you are at the computer or not when a backup needs to be run. Secondly, you can use program encryption to ensure complete file security, which is granted by SSL and your softwarw encryption. Thirdly, you can use backup compresion to save space on the destination WebDAV server.
