Compact flash cards and backup

June 19th, 2006 · No Comments

Though it may not naturally occur to one that a compact flash card and backup can be related notions, one can either backup the contents of his compact flash card to his laptop or use a compact flash card as a backup medium. Read on to find out how to do that.

Backing up a compact flash card

Backing up the contents of a card may be helpful, since the card is usually not that huge and you may need to copy its contents to a hard drive from time to time. A backup program could help here by copying the files automatically. This will help against accidental file deletion as well.

Another way to use the card is to use it as a mobile backup medium, like DVD, CD or, yet, flash USB drive. This, of course, may be a rare case, but if you don’t have any USB drive ready and you need to copy the files urgently, a compact flash card may save your day.
